VOICE.jpg

july 22 to august 11, 2012

The vocal program of the Orford Academy has been conceived for young singers of an advanced level. The program will focus on fundamental and complimentary aspects of the singer’s art. Through individual and group coachings, the singers will be able to develop their technical abilities and their interpretive and linguistic capabilities as well as the stylistic knowledge of certain repertoires (French repertoire, German lieder and general operatic repertoire).

In addition to classes on vocal technique and interpretation under the guidance of world-renowned teachers, the applicants will have access to diction classes (French, German, Italian and Russian) and aspects of performance practice. All singers will also have occasion to work with the head of the vocal accompanist program, Olivier Godin, as well as student pianists from his class.

Every students of the voice master classes will receive performance and dramatization coaching.

The objective of the performance and dramatization coaching offered during the Orford Academy ’s vocal art workshop is to develop in participants the techniques and conceptual tools required to stage presence and performance.

This training, especially devised for singers, strives to impart basic knowledge of performance to the participants. Its unique approach is based of the expressive potential of singing. Through experimentation, singers discover the process leading to that state of performance that favours expressive and lively stage performance.

So as to develop your expressive potential as well as your performer qualities; in order to demystify the art of performance and to shine on stage.

+ NEW THIS SUMMER +

In addition to opportunities to perform in recital during the workshop, young singers will have the opportunity to participate in a Mozart concert: Nozze di Figaro (condensed concert version), with the Orford Academy Orchestra during the second week of the workshop.
