June 17 to 30, 2012
The Woodwind Octet workshop is back this year, following three very successful summers This workshop, which takes place over a period of two weeks, will be devoted to the study of chamber music for wind instruments. It includes an in-depth exploration of compositions for octet by Mozart, Beethoven, Krommer and many others, as well as learning contemporary pieces and octet transcriptions. Each student will be part of an ensemble, attend readings and master classes, and will have the opportunity to peform in concert.
“Thank you for such a great experience at the Orford Octet program. It was such an honour, privilege and outstanding experience to perform with you and the faculty. The coachings you gave to our octet were so valuable and critical in our development as chamber musicians and good colleagues. I had such a great time with my octet members and the faculty, who surprised me with the amazing amount of guidance and experience you had to offer, both inside and outside the coachings.”
SUZU ENNS, clarinet, University of Ottawa
“Thank you very much for all your hard work overseeing the octet program. I really enjoyed the experience of working in an octet and it was a great pleasure to both be coached by and work with the faculty. Thank you for all your advice and coachings, I had a wonderful time!”
