Andrei Malashenko

Andrei Malashenko began his professional career in 1991 when he won the position of Principal Timpani of the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. While in New Zealand he also performed with the New Zealand Chamber Ensemble, the New Zealand Percussion Ensemble and taught percussion at the University of Victoria in Wellington.   

In 1995, Mr. Malashenko returned to Montreal Canada where he freelanced for a number of years with ensembles such as the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, McGill Chamber Orchestra and Imusici de Montreal. 

In 1999, Andrei Malashenko won the position of Principal Timpanist with the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, a position he holds to this day. Mr. Malashenko is also a percussion instructor and director of the percussion ensemble at McGill University in Montreal.
