Lambert Chen

Critically acclaimed violist Lambert Chen has performed across three continents. He has appeared as soloist with ensembles such as I Musici de Montreal, Symphony Pro Musica, the New England Conservatory Symphony Orchestra and the Contemporary Music Ensemble of McGill.

As chamber musician, he is currently the violist of the Schulich String Quartet and the Musica Camerata of Montreal, and has participated as guest of the Montreal Chamber Music Festival among others. He is also playing in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra as its associate violist.

Lambert has received prizes and honours at the Primrose International Viola Competition, the OSM Standard Life Competition, the New England Conservatory Commencement Competition and the Sylva Gelber Foundation. He was also given the Golden Violin Award from the Schulich School ofMusic of McGill University. Lambert holds degrees from the Peabody Institute of the Johns HopkinsUniversity, the New England Conservatory of Music and the Schulich School of Music of McGill University, where he is currently viola instructor.
