Soprano Layla Claire will be accompanied by Mikael Eilasen on the piano. Layla Claire has an international career in Canada, the United State and Europe, and has worked with, among others, the Opéra de Montréal and the Philadelphia Music Chamber Society.

During her concert, Layla Claire will receive the prestigious Virginia-Parker Prize of the Canada Council for the Arts. This $25 000 prize is awarded each year to a Canadian classical musician who demonstrated outstanding talent and musicianship. The Orford Arts Centre offers its most sincere congratulations of Ms Claire and is glad that she chose the Orford Festival to receive her award.

L’Harmonie des saisons and Les Boréades de Montréal will perform, on baroque instruments, some of the greatest hits by the legendary band The Beatles. The group has gone on several tours in Canada and abroad, taking their unusual approach to popular music with them.

Cavatines et Contrepoint

This collaboration with Tedd and Ottawa pianist Jean Desmarais resulted in Cavatinas et Contrepoints; a pure and simple program of dance and music inspired by a 20^th century parlour performance. A visual piano recital, Margie and Tedd appear and disappear as Jean plays a program of Beethoven, Chopin, Scriabin and Debussy.
